How a study session works
Three steps, about as long as a class period.
A session with Johnny runs up to 30 minutes. You talk, Johnny talks back and writes on a whiteboard you both can draw on.

Type the question, pick the course it belongs to, or open a session straight from an assignment. Show handwritten work with your camera, or write it on the board.

Start from your coursework or a blank board. Johnny joins the same room, with your question and the time left in view.

Turn on your camera when the work is in a notebook or on another surface. You can turn it off again from the same control.
Camera access is optional and requires your browser's permission.

A math calculator that shows its working: solve, factor, differentiate, integrate and graph, with each step on screen.

Solve and factor with the working shown. Exact answers are labelled exact; anything the tool can only estimate is labelled as an estimate.

The same equation draws itself, with the points worth knowing marked: where it crosses the axis and where it turns.

Derivatives, integrals and limits work the same way. Stuck on a line? Ask about that step and Johnny's chat picks it up.
The calculator runs in your browser and uses no credits. Asking about a step in chat does.
What Johnny remembers
Tell it once. Stay in charge of it.
Write a short Learning Brief: what you are preparing for, where you get stuck, how you like things explained. Tutor chat, exam study and course building can use it so you are not re-explaining yourself each time, but only where you turn that on.
- See exactly what CANtutor understood from your words, and mark anything that is wrong.
- Your saved choices and your own words, nothing inferred about you behind your back.
- Export it or delete it whenever you want.
Live voice sessions don't use it yet. Everything stays off until you choose it, in Settings.

Most teens already use AI for schoolwork. What matters is whether it teaches them or just does the work.
Learning first, by default
Every session starts in Learn mode, which walks you through the idea behind the question with analogies and small steps, and asks you questions along the way instead of handing over the answer.
Progress you can see
Your student can send you a read-only progress link and switch it off at any time. You don't need an account to view it.
No surprise charges
Usage is shown in the app. Pay-as-you-go stays off unless it is turned on, and cancelling is one tap in Settings → Billing.
Their data, their controls
The account can be deleted from Settings. The learning profile can be exported or deleted, and nothing is shared with a parent unless your student sends the link.

What happens when I run out?
Wait until the reset time shown in Settings. You can still read saved work, manage your account, and use deterministic math tools. New AI work needs available credits.
Do I need a card or subscription?
No card or plan selection is needed. Existing subscriptions remain separately managed in Billing and can continue to renew until cancelled.
How do I secure my account?
Verify your email, then sign in with your password. Your learning data stays private to your account. Staff accounts also use an authenticator app.
Are all features always available?
Supported learning features share the same allowance. Lessons remain unavailable. Live tutoring and AI work are subject to service capacity and safety controls.
